Halloween is one of those holidays that both kids and grown-ups enjoy.
It's a night to express your creativity freely and have loads of fun with
full license to stock up and hoard your candy stash. Over the years,
Halloween has grown into a sophisticated, adult celebration. Return to the
fun kids had years ago with these basic but fun Halloween party ideas for
kids. Here are a few ideas to get you started.

Costume contest – After all your guests have arrived, take a vote on
the best and scariest costumes. Add as many categories to your list as you
want and hand out a small prize for each category. At the end of
the day, award the grand prize to the best costume overall.

Pumpkin carving contest – This should be supervised by a grown-up. Separate
the kids into small teams of 2-4. Provide small pumpkins and markers
to each team. See who can draw
the funniest or silliest face into a pumpkin and have an adult carve out the
face according to the kids' instructions.

Make a mask – Provide younger kids at your Halloween party with construction paper,
round-ended scissors, markers and glue. Let them make their own face masks
for the party. Punch a hole in both sides of the mask and tie string or tiny
elastic on the mask.
